Yummm....
Baking Bread...the house smells great!
As I have mentioned before...being a one income family we do a lot of things around here ourselves. Simple tasks like baking our own bread is really easy and really economical.
Here is the simple French bread recipe I use:
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoon yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg yolk
Mix together warm water, sugar, and yeast. (I mix mine in my kitchen aid mixer bowl) let set for about 5 min.
Add in flour, use dough hook on mixer and mix until a ball has formed.
Oil medium size bowl.
Place dough in oiled bowl and sprinkle with salt. Cover and let rise for 30min.
Punch down dough divide into two loafs.
Let loaf rise for 30-40 min.
Brush with egg yolk.
Bake on greased cookie sheet for 20-25 minutes on 375.
Let cool on wire rack.
Enjoy!
